About

I’ve always loved travelling. About twenty year ago I discovered that I also love writing about my travels. For me, writing is a combination of therapy (not that I need it), memory preservation (as time goes on I definitely need it) and a creative outlet.

I have tried various avenues to share my writing based around a combination of blog sites, free Wix websites or social media platforms. None have felt satisfactory. So the time has come to collect all of my writing in one place, sort of like a private library that is open to everyone. And in this library, I can store all of my writings in one place, instead of them being randomly strewn around the web. And make it available for anyone who might want to read about my journeys or what I have to say.

But why Blueneck? I thought I had cleverly made up a term for someone who has a vaguely liberal “blue” worldview, but in an impolite, rough-around-the-edges redneck way. Those that know me well are aware that for better or for worse, I say what I think. WYSIWYG. A Blueneck. Apparently, the term Blueneck already existed to describe people like me. Just goes to show that I’m really not that clever.

No matter. That’s what this site is about.  A collection of all my travels and thoughts, unfiltered, real and hopefully fun to read.
